Using the key fob regularly can reduce the overall security of the system: If the fob is left inside the vehicle, the vehicle may be automatically authorized. If the fob is attached to your keys and the keys are stolen, the thief may also have the authorization device required to operate the vehicle. Due to its operating range, the fob may unintentionally authorize the vehicle when parked near your home or another location where the fob is present. Storing the fob in the vehicle defeats the purpose of the additional authorization layer provided by the IGLA system. Keeping the fob in the same location as your vehicle keys reduces security, as both the key and authorization device may be compromised at the same time. For maximum security, IGLA Canada recommends storing the fob separately from your vehicle keys and keeping it outside the vehicle at all times.
